These are two of my favorite art and wine festivals in Northern California. After exhibiting at both for many years, I've come to appreciate their talented artists, welcoming communities, beautiful downtown settings, excellent show promoters, and incredible volunteers.
Expect a lively mix of original handmade art, local businesses, wine, food, live entertainment, and community celebrations. While these festivals include a broader variety of vendors than a traditional fine art show, they're wonderful places to spend the day, support artists, and enjoy everything these communities have to offer.

You'll find great local restaurants, unique boutiques, and the opportunity to meet artists without the larger crowds found at major festivals. If you appreciate exceptional handmade work, welcoming communities, and small-town charm, these hidden gems are well worth the visit.

These well-organized indoor events offer a relaxed shopping experience with comfortable browsing, convenient parking, and a carefully selected mix of artists, makers, and specialty vendors. They're wonderful places to take your time, meet the artists, and discover unique handcrafted work.
I enjoy these shows because they're easy to navigate, professionally managed, and attract shoppers looking for meaningful gifts, wearable art, home décor, and one-of-a-kind creations. If you prefer a quieter atmosphere without sacrificing quality, these boutique events are excellent choices.
Winery & Vineyard Events

Celebration & Community Events
One of Northern California's premier Oktoberfest celebrations, this lively community festival brings authentic Bavarian traditions to the heart of downtown Clayton. Enjoy live German music, traditional food, an authentic German biergarten, local beer and wine, carnival rides, handmade vendors, and a welcoming atmosphere beneath beautiful Mount Diablo.
I enjoy this event because it combines the charm of downtown Clayton with a festive fall atmosphere. It's a wonderful place to spend the day listening to live music, browsing artist booths and local businesses, enjoying great food, and experiencing one of the Bay Area's most established Oktoberfest celebrations while supporting a community event that gives back to local causes.

The Crocker Holiday Artisan Market stands out as one of the strongest indoor handmade events in Northern California. The event is highly organized, professionally presented, and focused on quality juried handmade work created by real artists and makers.

Every art show has its own personality. Some focus on fine art and exceptional craftsmanship, while others emphasize community, entertainment, wine, food, or holiday shopping.
