THE HANDMADE HANDBAG PROCESS
Each MONOLISA handbag is handcrafted personally by artist Lisa Ramos in her Clayton, California studio. Her design philosophy centers on creating high-quality handbags designed to be worn, enjoyed, and appreciated for years to come.
Every bag is a one-of-a-kind piece. The body of the crossbody is constructed using a single piece of leather, resulting in a clean and sophisticated silhouette. Each design undergoes an extensive process that includes sourcing premium materials, developing a custom handbag pattern, hand cutting leather, skiving, creating a multi-layer leather flower, working with adhesives, sewing, and finishing each detail by hand.
MONOLISA handbags are not mass-produced or sold in retail stores. Pieces are available exclusively online or in person at select fine art juried shows throughout California. Lisa’s mission is to design beautifully handmade limited-edition pieces that add a refined sense of elegance to any personal style.

Leather: The body of the bag is crafted from medium to light-weight European suede leather. Purple leather accents are made from top-grain thick leather tanned in the United States, finished for lasting color consistency.

Waste Reduction: Waste reduction is a priority at MONOLISA. The majority of each leather hide is thoughtfully utilized during the making of this collection.
