About Akoya Pearls
Akoya pearls are prized for their mirror-like luster, perfect roundness, and superior surface quality. They are considered among the highest quality pearls available. Achieving this exceptional luster requires a slow harvesting process—Akoya pearls are cultivated in cold salt water and harvested during the coldest months of the year.
Each Akoya oyster typically produces only one pearl at a time, making the process more time-intensive and rare compared to freshwater pearls, which can produce many pearls at once. The pearl gemstone symbolizes love and is the traditional birthstone for the month of June.
