Jewelry Care for Metal & Leather
We hope you enjoy your MONOLISA jewelry pieces. When caring for your earrings, bracelets and necklaces here are some useful tips that will help preserve your metal jewelry pieces.
Sterling Jewelry Hardware
Sterling silver and plated jewelry will oxidize overtime from wearing your pieces to storing them. Pollution, humidity, chemicals and body chemistry are all contributors to oxidization. To clean your jewelry sterling pieces use a Sunshine polishing cloth and Wrights Silver Cream to achieve a bright shine (avoid using the cloth on gemstones such as ruby or pearl).
Argentium Silver Material
Argentium silver is low maintenance and simple to clean. Use a soft cloth or wash lightly with soap. To avoid water spots dry your jewelry piece immediately. Don't use dip polishes with Argentium silver.
14k Gold Jewelry Hardware
All 14k gold will dull over time and requires polishing to achieve a shiny piece. A Sunshine polishing cloth will leave a deep, long-lasting luster to your jewelry pieces (avoid using the cloth on gemstones such as topaz or pearls). The cloth should only be used on metals, not crystals or leather.
Leather Jewelry Care
To preserve your leather jewelry, keep your pieces away from lacquer, perfume or anything containing alcohol. Avoid harsh cleaner or solvents. Extended direct sunlight can damage leather. If your product gets wet, wipe it with a soft cloth and air dry it naturally.
To protect, clean and condition leather, use saddle soap, except on patent leathers. Saddle soap provides just the right amount of moisture required to preserve leather goods. Before using saddle soap, take a lightly moist cloth and clean your leather product. After it dries, dab a little amount of saddle soap on your product and rub it around the leather. Make clockwise rubbing motions on the leather until it is dry. Repeat until you have cleaned the entire leather surface. Use a clean cloth to wipe off any excess residue.
It is important to clean leather on a regular basis. Use saddle soap every few months. It will help protect your leather jewelry, keep it moist and looking beautiful. Avoid cleaning your leather pieces too often. Over cleaning leather can damage the leather. It can cause leather to be too moist, creating mildew and damage the leather item.
